Vector
Privacy policy
Effective 13 October 2026
Vector is an iPad app made by James Milne (“the developer”). It is a personal reference aid for airline pilots.
What Vector keeps on your iPad
Vector stores these in its own storage on your iPad:
- the documents you import, such as flight plans (OFPs), the ARC and the APM Supplements, and what Vector reads from them;
- your plans, settings and choices;
- the weather and NOTAMs that Vector gets from NAIPS for you.
Vector has no server and no Vector account. It does not send your documents, or anything it reads from them, to the developer or to anyone else. The developer cannot see any of it.
Vector keeps its data out of iCloud Backup and computer backups, including everything it reads from the ARC and the APM Supplements. If you move to a new iPad, import your documents again.
Network use
Vector makes one kind of network connection: to NAIPS, the pilot briefing service of Airservices Australia.
- It connects only when you tap Refresh, or when you test your login in Settings. It never connects in the background, and never in demo mode.
- It sends your NAIPS user name and password, and the airports and times of the briefing you asked for.
- It receives weather, NOTAMs and other briefing products, and stores them on your iPad.
- Airservices Australia handles what it receives under its own terms and privacy policy.
The Offline switch in Settings stops all network use by Vector.
Your NAIPS login
- Vector stores your NAIPS user name and password in the iOS Keychain on this iPad only. They do not sync to iCloud Keychain and are not included in backups.
- Vector uses them only to sign in to NAIPS. The developer never sees them.
- iOS can keep Keychain items after an app is deleted, so remove your login in Vector’s Settings before you delete the app.
No analytics, tracking or advertising
Vector contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and no third-party code that collects data. There is no sign-in to Vector. It does not ask for your location, contacts or photos.
Diagnostics
Vector never sends diagnostics by itself. If you want to report a problem, you can export a diagnostics file (Settings › About) and choose to share it, for example by email.
The file holds codes, counts and timings: the app and iPadOS versions, the iPad model, which kinds of reference document are loaded and their revision labels, row counts, issue codes, and the result and duration of recent NAIPS requests. It contains no document content, no weather or NOTAM text, no login details and no personal information.
TestFlight
If you test Vector through Apple’s TestFlight, Apple collects some information and shares it with the developer, under Apple’s TestFlight terms and Apple’s privacy policy. This includes the feedback and screenshots you send, crash reports, and how the app is installed and used. The developer uses it only to fix and improve Vector, and does not share it.
If you email the developer, your address and message are used only to reply and to fix problems. They are not shared. Ask, and they will be deleted.
Changes
If a future version of Vector changes what it stores or where it connects, this policy will be updated before that version is released, with a new effective date.
